Local Patronage

Today was Brian's furlough day, so we packed up the kids, picked up Shelby and headed to Albany to Chehaw and the Riverquarium. It has been a LONG time since I have been to Chehaw, I don't know that Brooke has ever been, and Brandon has not been since Kindergarten and a trip with an unnamed person that he has permanently blocked form memory. I did not realize how bad it had gotten since the flood. They do not have hardly ANY animals. It is shady though and even as hot as it was it was not too bad. We then proceeded to the Mellow Mushroom for lunch per the recommendation of the McDaniel's'. It got a 3 out of 4 stars from us. The entire thing is painted in Jimmy Hendrix, Elvis and Janis Joplin murals and they had really good pizza. Shelby and I got a BLT and instead of lettuce, it had "grass" as Matthew called it. (Alfalfa sprouts)
We then headed to the Riverquarium, none of us have ever been. I do recommend it, once, it is not something I would pay to do again though. Next time, we can go to Truman's, catch what we want to see and then throw it back. The million dollar aviary is a small place that you have to have a chaperone go in with you and come back out with you to make sure the birds dont fly out. The buzzard or whatever it was apparently liked Matthew, there is a sign that said the birds had never lived in the wild and were friendly, and of course Matthew is going to touch whatever, so he stuck his finger right up there and it nipped him. He looked at the guide and said, It bite me! Luckily, it didnt hurt him, but we were very careful after that. Poor Matthew is really learning his animals. As we pulled up to Chehaw he told us we were going to see lions. No lion, there were cheetahs, and when we got to the bears, he was so happy to recognize something. So be prepared for a long string of pictures from our probably only trip this summer because our car insurance tripled when we added Brandon. I am currently shopping for another agent, company because it is ridiculous!!!!
