The Redneck Florida Swimming Hole and a Doggy Door

The kids had already been once. With Nana and Dale. Brooke talked about how nice it was. The drive there was not bad, we got off of the interstate and headed towards Live Oak. It was nice and scenic. When we pulled into the parking lot, there were a few divers there and I thought, OK, this is going to be nice. We got changed in the clean dressing/bath rooms. I was impressed. We walked past the nice picnic tables past the playground. The spring was gorgeous. There were 3 entrances, with steps for you to actually go into the water. It was not crowded and Brooke went right in. The water is 72 degrees. That is a nice day right? NO! The water was COLD! Brooke was swimming away. Brian got in to his waist, Brandon got his feet in and was too chicken so a group of little girls pushed him in while I died laughing! We got Matthew in and he swam and swam. Brooke swam and swam and dove and dove. I did finally make it in to my waist but that was as much as I could do. I held Matthew for a bit while the boys and Brooke snorkeled and swam, trying to touch the bottom. They saw the entrance to the cave, it was cool. Then.....redneck church let out. I mean people by the truckload came. In all sorts of attire, fat, tall, skinny, short, nasty, speedos, swimming trunks with Georgia boots. You name it, they came! Matthew and I got out, it started sprinkling. We headed to the picnic table and had a nice picnic lunch. I kept hoping some of the folks would go home. Nope! So we rented a kayak for Brandon and a canoe for us. How in the WORLD I thought we would entertain a 2 year old in a canoe for an hour was beyond me, but we did not tip over. He did get brave a few times and stick his hands in the water to throw it on me and Brooke. Brian thinks I am horrible at paddling. I chose to let him think that so he would do all of the work. We saw a TON of fish, and quite a few turtles. I do have some kaykak/canoe pics, but I was afraid to take my good camera onto the canoe so we got a water camera. I have to take it to get it developed after I explain to the people where I take it that the boob shots can go in the trash, and that my husband did not take them, my 2 year old did. I didnt realize he was mashing buttons......
Nana, Dale and Dale's mom came over after church and Dale swam with the kids for a bit while Ms. Elzie and I sat with Brooksy in the shade. I had had enough of the water by then. I didnt get a good picture of Matthew on Brian's back while he was snorkeling, but Nana did. So hopefully she will share it with me. It was funny, Brian was just a snorkeling and Matthew sat on top of him sucking his thumb. Only once did he try to use the snorkel to "talk" to Brian and then shove it under water. Yes, he got his attention.
On the way out, Matthew fell asleep before we were out of the park. But the kids were telling us about how last time, there were deer everywhere. About that time, I looked up and there were two yearling just sitting on the side of the road and then a couple hundred yards away was a big doe just standing there. We didnt go onto the boardwalks, it was getting late and we headed back to Nana's for some supper.
Oh! And this last picture? I know how to keep Matthew entertained!!
