Today, school got cancelled, apparently God didnt get the memo that the weather forecasters predicted snow, sleet, or icy precipitation. So the kids and I have been cooped up most of the day trying to stay warm. It would be a great night for some soup or chili, but I am too cold to venture out to the grocery store. So instead, I thought that I would catch up on blogging!
Christmas has come and gone once again. It tends to do that. You plan and plan and stress and stress then you wake up Christmas morning and bam, all that planning and stressing is laying in a mess on the living room floor. This year was probably the first one that Matthew had a clue about what was going on. The stars were aligned, he sat with Santa, we got all of our shopping done, and on top of that, crazy me decided to plan his birthday party for the day after Christmas. Yep, that's right. And to add to THAT, I decided that I wanted to make his cake myself. Go ahead, laugh if you want to.
Christmas Eve we ate jambalaya at Mom and Dad's. We have this sort of strange Cajun tradition, but I dont care, it was very good. Then Mr. and Mrs. Claus headed the kids home to bathe and get to bed so they could get busy. Putting out presents....what were you thinking?
Here is the loot from Christmas morning:
We had a busy day that day, with breakfast at our house, lunch at Grandmama Cook's and then Christmas cheer followed by the annual waffle dinner at Grandmama Cromer's. In between all of this, I made the actual cake for Matthew's birthday, which was the easy part. At 11 Christmas night, Brian and I made buttercream icing. (This is where I should interject that I got a new stand mixer for Christmas) Early the next morning, I got up and decorated the cake and cupcakes and his party went on as planned.
Basketball starts tonight, but Brooke has the crud and a bad sinus infection. She had an asthma attack and we wound up at the dr this week so I dont think that she will be playing tonight. Soccer practice offically started yesterday too. Brandon got his letterman jacket and I thought that he would never take it off, but he did, cause Shelby has it.
Happy 2010!
